Coast Electrical Industries commenced in Wollongong, New South Wales as a partnership on the 28th of July 1973 prior to its current formation as a Proprietary Limited Company.

For 50 years we have been manufacturing transformers for Industry, Mining, Rail, Shipping, Commercial, Domestic and Rural applications.

During this time a wide range of "Illawarra Transformers" have been developed, utilising the latest available technology, materials and equipment.
To cater for our growth a purpose-built factory was constructed in Wollongong in 1978. This included the introduction of hydraulic and computerised coil winding machines.

The need for and the benefits from a System of Documented Management Procedures was foreseen for Australian Industry and Quality Assurance Accreditation to ISO9002 was achieved in July 1994. Our ongoing commitment to Quality Assurance means our Customers can have confidence in our quality Australian made products.

In 1987 our factory was doubled in size to cater for an increased demand for our transformers and doubled again in 2002. The 2002 factory upgrade included a full-sized metal fabricating shop including hydraulic guillotines, brake presses, benders and Mig-welding machines. This gave us the ability to manufacture transformer parts and enclosures in house, giving us a greater control over the manufacturing process.

CAD transformer design software was introduced in 2006 enabling us to take our transformer designs to a whole new level of engineering and reliability.

A computerised project management data base was introduced in 2007 enabling us to track our customers orders from the quoting stage right through to the dispatch stage giving us the ability to make sure every job is tracible, runs smoothly and is dispatched on time.
In 2013 we purchased an AEM Unicore core manufacturing machine, giving us the ability to further develop our transformer manufacturing capabilities enabling us to lower our transformer power losses, resulting in an even more efficient transformer resulting in lower power running cost for our customers.
Coast Electrical has a commitment to their staffs ongoing training programs, making sure all their staff have the most current training and tools to carry out their job at the high levels of safety and expertise expected by us.
